B.A. Film Studies, Columbia University
4 years tutoring the SAT and ACT.
Educated at Columbia University in New York City (B.A. with Honors), Benjamin has tutored the SAT & ACT for the last four years amidst pursuing a career in writing Broadway musicals. His full teaching career spans the last fifteen years, beginning with teaching piano lessons at the University of Miami while still in high school.
As a high school student, Benjamin was a National Merit Scholar, an AP Scholar, and Salutatorian of his graduating class. He achieved perfect scores of 5 on the AP exams in US History, Biology, English Literature, Calculus AB, and Environmental Science. These accolades helped him earn a full scholarship to Columbia, where he studied film, wrote the score to the 114th Annual Varsity Show (Columbia’s oldest performing arts tradition), and served as president of the Columbia Performing Arts League.
As a working artist, Benjamin brings warmth and empathy to his tutoring. His students have consistently requested his assistance on additional prep and essay support because he works to build a strong relationship with each and every one of them. Tutoring can often be intimidating, but Benjamin’s students know he is in their corner. He works hard to ensure his students feel comfortable making mistakes, because he believes that is the best way to confidently improve and increase their scores.
- One of Benjamin’s recent ACT students achieved a 10-point composite score jump.
- Benjamin is writing a Broadway musical with John Leguizamo that premieres in 2019 at the Berkeley Repertory Theater.
