    About Carl

Carl earned his bachelor’s degree from Columbia University in 2007 and has been working in education ever since. While his major was history, it was his study of the Italian language that inspired him to pursue tutoring after graduation. Teaching math as he learned Italian—through immersion and repeated practice, with the eventual goal of fluency—has proved very helpful for Carl’s private students over the past decade, many of whom have been accepted to prestigious universities across the United States.

As a high school student, Carl was a National Merit Scholar, and he earned perfect scores on his SAT and Subject Tests. Carl excelled in math as a student, so it was only natural for him to specialize in the subject when he began tutoring. Aside from SAT/ACT prep, Carl most enjoys working on the Math Subject Tests. In addition to private tutoring, Carl works as a Math HIP (High-Intensity Practice) coordinator at the Avenues World School in New York.

As a tutor, Carl has found consistent success with students at all levels, both in-person and online. He has helped several students achieve perfect scores on the ACT and the Math Level 2 Subject Test, and some of his students have been accepted to Yale, Harvard, and University of Pennsylvania.
