    About JB

JB’s tutoring experience began at Marshall University, where they worked as a graduate assistant tutor for students with learning differences, including ADD, ADHD, dysgraphia, and dyslexia. Since then, they have gained several years of experience tutoring the SAT and ACT as well as Latin, literature, essay writing, and the humanities in general. JB has also edited hundreds of college application essays and worked with many students to achieve admission to universities and honors programs in the top 100 most competitive schools in the country.

JB graduated magna cum laude and received the designation of Most Outstanding Humanities Student of 2009, along with achieving the CAMWS Award for Classical Studies. As part of their graduate and undergraduate studies, JB participated in archaeological digs in Rome, Italy and Tel Dor, Israel. While completing two master’s degrees, JB wrote and published a work on Neronian literature and presented a paper on Augustan elegy in a regional Classics conference.

Before college, JB achieved membership in the National Society of High School Scholars and Who’s Who Among American High School Students. JB represented their high school in statewide Math Bee competitions through junior high into senior year, and in a national fine arts competition during their senior year, they represented their state in the categories of biology and sculpture.

JB loves to put their students more at ease and build their confidence if they experience anxiety surrounding the test preparation process. They are also able to non-judgmentally guide students through the steps needed to overcome weaknesses and achieve their potential. It is especially gratifying to JB to teach a subject in a way that is more suited to the student’s particular learning style than how the student initially learned the subject in school.

    Noteworthy Accomplishments
