A multi-degreed academic professional who graduated magna cum laude from Washington University in St. Louis, Kate has tutored the SAT and ACT for more than four years, and has taught in a variety of other contexts—high school science classrooms, college engineering courses, and citizen science classes—for more than 10 years.
As a high school student at the prestigious Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy, Kate was a National Merit Finalist. She earned perfect scores of 5 on the AP exams in Chemistry, Calculus BC, and Physics C – Mechanics. She also achieved perfect scores of 36 on the ACT Math and Science sections, with an overall composite score of 35. Kate later earned a perfect score of 800 on her GRE Quantitative exam.
Kate’s college education was funded through five scholarships. As an engineering student, she was awarded the Antoinette Frances Dames Award for Outstanding Performance in Engineering. As a graduate student with a 4.0 GPA, Kate’s wrote a dissertation on “Multivariate Statistical Techniques for Accurately and Noninvasively Localizing Tumors Subject to Respiration-Induced Motion.” She also authored a dozen peer-reviewed scientific research articles, and published two patents.
