About Katie

Katie graduated magna cum laude from Boston College. At the Honors Program there she studied everything from theater to mathematics and was accepted into two honor societies: Golden Key and Alpha Sigma Nu. Katie’s passion for academic excellence dates back to high school, where she achieved a perfect Verbal score (800) and a perfect Math score (800) between her SAT and PSAT exams.  She was a National Merit Scholar, an AP Scholar with Honors, and was a member of the National Honor Society. Katie also achieved three perfect AP scores (5’s) in Calculus AB, Physics C, and US History.

Since graduation, Katie has dedicated herself to helping others achieve academic success. A tutor since 2003, Katie specializes in high school and college-level math from Algebra to AP Calculus AB and in test prep (both math and verbal) for the ACT, SAT, ISEE, and SSAT.  Katie has tutored privately in Boston, New York, and Los Angeles in a variety of subjects. She also gained additional experience in the field of education when she worked at Fordham Prep and Boston College.

Katie always brings humor and wit to her tutoring sessions, and even occasionally draws on self-deprecation to make her students more at ease.  She is always able to explain a concept in different ways if a student doesn’t understand her first approach, and it is this flexibility that enables her to forge meaningful rapport with a wide variety of students.
