    About Miguel

    Miguel has held a lifelong curiosity for learning and welcomes opportunities to gain knowledge or experience. It is his goal to share with each new student the methods and perspectives that have given him and previous students cause for gratitude and drive to learn more. 

    In high school, a combination of extracurricular tutoring and self-study led him to achieve National Hispanic Recognition on the PSAT, which was soon followed by 99th percentile scores on both the SAT and ACT.  His scores on various AP exams earned him National AP Scholar distinction and 49 college credit hours. He graduated salutatorian of his class with a 4.6 GPA. His academic performance allowed him to attend both Rice University on scholarship and the University of Texas at Austin, where he graduated with Honors in dual degrees of Computer Science and English.

    Miguel has mentored strategic test prep, academic subjects, computer science, and ESL to hundreds of students online and in person both in one-on-one and classroom settings. His students have achieved perfect scores on the ACT and SAT and the subject tests for the SAT subject tests in Math 2 and Physics. As a tutor, Miguel approaches the learning process as an opportunity to set well-defined goals. In this framework, mistakes are always growth opportunities. His teaching philosophy encourages questions to help students find internal motivation and discover the best path for improvement, on the tests and beyond.

    Noteworthy Accomplishments

    • Miguel’s most treasured academic accomplishment is his bronze medal overall at Texas Academic Decathlon State Competition.
    • He has successfully tutored students from ages 10 – 90.

    Fun Facts

    • Miguel loves music and will listen to anything recommended to him at least once.
    • He enjoys strategy games, riddles, puzzles, and trivia.
