Philip has been a professional tutor for over five years and is currently an instructor in the English Department at Marist College. He holds an MFA in Writing from the New School in New York, where he was awarded the Departmental Merit Scholarship, and a BAH in Economics from Queens University, where he graduated First Class Honours with Distinction and received the Dean’s Scholarship Award on multiple occasions.
Philip has worked with students who were accepted to Yale, Princeton, Stanford, and Brown, among other elite schools. He specializes in working with students on advanced English and writing skills, and has had a student go from a 21 to a 35 on the English section of the ACT.
When he is not tutoring students, Philip pursues his passion for writing. His work has been published in a number of literary journals, including The Common, The Brooklyn Rail, and Joyland, and he has worked on three editions of the Best American Poetry anthology.
- Several of Philip’s students have scored a perfect 800 on the SAT Math 2 Subject Test.
- He was recently a Fellow at the Norman Mailer Center & Writers’ Colony.
- Philip loves watching and playing tennis.
