    About Rose

    Rose Paik graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a master’s degree in Educational Technology and the University of Washington’s Foster School of Business with a bachelor’s degree in accounting. Rose’s graduate work focused on using learning analytics and adaptive learning technologies to improve standardized test preparation instruction and create personalized learning experiences for every student.  In addition, Rose has experience living and working in Shanghai, China. As the Global Education Counselor for an American school, she established the college counseling curriculum for three campuses and educated students and families on the role and importance of standardized testing for college admissions process.

     

    As ArborBridge’s Curriculum Manager, Rose has over nine years of teaching experience in test preparation and classroom teaching.  Rose has tutored more than 350 students from diverse backgrounds for the SAT, ACT, ISEE, SSAT, AP, and Subject Tests. When it comes to teaching, Rose is a dynamic and responsive instructor.  She personalizes instruction and strategy to best support each student’s individual learning profile and goals. Rose is especially gifted at working with students with different learning styles and needs.  She believes that students learn best when the content and material are personally relevant and promote active learning. She ensures that every student is a shareholder in the learning process. Her approach increases test-taking confidence, improves problem-solving skills, and helps students reach their goal scores. In the curriculum realm, Rose oversees a team of ten writers at ArborBridge and was the architect and lead writer of over 500 lessons geared towards the new SAT released in 2016. She is an expert in both lesson design and pedagogical philosophy.

     

    Rose’s dedication to test preparation extends beyond her academic and professional experience.  In her free time, Rose is a volunteer academic and test preparation tutor at a community youth center serving at-risk youth in the projects of East Los Angeles.  In 2016, Rose was presented a Certificate of Recognition by Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti for her leadership role as Partner Mentor of the 1st Annual Summer College Boot Camp of El Centro de Ayuda.  Rose’s knowledge, relevant personal experience, and dedication to her students’ success make her an excellent advocate and resource for students navigating the test preparation process.

    Noteworthy Accomplishments

    • Rose scored a 35 on the ACT in high school.
    • She speaks 3 languages (Korean, Chinese, and English) and has traveled to 16 different countries.
