About

As a Fulbright Scholar and one of ArborBridge’s SAT/ACT tutors, Bethany Cummings brings a unique blend of academic excellence, global perspective, and teaching experience to every student she works with. Educated at the University of Notre Dame, where she graduated summa cum laude with degrees in Sociology, Italian, and Entrepreneurship & Innovation, Bethany has conducted award-winning research on elite education and social mobility. She has also performed statistical analyses for multiple professors’ sociological research and enjoys using her skills in design to visually map key findings. Bethany went on to earn her Master of Philosophy in Education, Knowledge, Power, and Politics at the University of Cambridge, graduating with High Distinction as the inaugural St. Edmund’s/Notre Dame Scholar. Currently, she is completing her Master of Science in Product, Service, System Design at Politecnico di Milano as a U.S. Fulbright Scholar.

Bethany has taught and tutored across diverse settings. She has taught conflict resolution and English language in elementary schools, led business English courses for European professionals, and served as a Leadership and Empowerment Teacher in Japan. She has also guest lectured at the University of Notre Dame’s London Global Gateway and presented her academic research at international conferences. Alongside her strengths in reading and writing—where she earned a perfect 36 on ACT Reading and English and was recognized as a State Champion in Oratory Speech—Bethany draws on her background in statistical analysis to strengthen students’ quantitative reasoning. Her ability to connect math concepts to real-world applications helps students not only master SAT/ACT Math but also build lasting problem-solving confidence.

Families working with Bethany appreciate her calm, patient approach and her ability to make sessions supportive yet lighthearted. She believes that success on standardized tests is not just about mastering content, but also about managing the pressure of high-stakes exams. Her students leave sessions not only with stronger academic skills but also with the confidence to perform under stress.

Outside of tutoring, Bethany has lived in Canada, the U.S., England, and Italy, and once was a DJ and station manager for her university radio station. Families enjoy working with her for the warmth, empathy, and global insight she brings to each session.
