About

Troy earned his degree in secondary mathematics education from Commonwealth University–Lock Haven and spent four years teaching high school math in Virginia and Maryland. While teaching subjects such as algebra and geometry, he discovered that many students made the greatest gains through one-on-one instruction, which led him to focus more fully on individualized tutoring.

As a tutor, Troy has worked with students ranging from elementary school through adulthood, covering math topics from foundational skills to calculus and statistics. He also specializes in standardized test preparation, particularly the SAT, where he has helped multiple students earn scores in the 1500s, achieve overall improvements of 200 points or more, and raise their Reading & Writing section scores by over 100 points. To further strengthen his instruction, Troy retook the SAT himself in May 2025, allowing him to draw directly on his own test-taking experience when coaching students.

In his sessions, Troy takes a personalized and flexible approach, adapting to each student’s learning style while emphasizing clarity, confidence, and long-term mastery of the material.
