Laura

An NYU graduate and experienced educator, Laura is a passionate and dynamic tutor with a global teaching background and a deep commitment to socially-engaged learning.

Laura has presented original theoretical work at academic conferences across the U.S. and internationally, including at Manchester University (UK), the Moscow School of Social and Economic Sciences, American University, and Pace University. She has designed and taught college-level courses at Wesleyan University’s Green Street Arts Center on Middle Eastern history and utopian political thought, where students developed their own visionary projects. Internationally, she taught English literature, composition, world history, and psychology at top-ranked high schools in Zhongshan and Zhuhai, China, and led a popular evening seminar on film, literature, and theater. Her wide-ranging teaching experience also includes drama instruction at the Cypress Hills Local Development Corporation, test prep at Kent Prep in NYC, and mentorship of students in the NYC shelter system through the Actors’ Theater Workshop’s Builders of the New World program.

Laura’s commitment to education extends far beyond the classroom. She has taught ESL using theater and expressive arts in rural Nicaragua, working with students of all ages, and toured the Middle East as part of a circus/theater troupe performing for Iraqi and Palestinian refugee children in Egypt, Jordan, and the West Bank.

At the core of Laura’s teaching philosophy is a belief in the power of imagination, dialogue, and the arts to help students understand the world and shape it for the better. She brings warmth, depth, and a wealth of experience to every educational setting.
