About

After earning a bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Mathematics from the University of Michigan—graduating in only 3 years—and a master’s degree in Financial Engineering from Cornell University, Jerry decided to follow his passion and become a tutor so that he could pass on his knowledge to countless students.

Jerry has always been enthusiastic about learning new subjects and teaching others. During high school, he completed 5 AP subjects in a single year and scored 5 on all of them: Calculus AB, Economics, Physics, Chemistry, and Music Theory. He also achieved a perfect 800 on the SAT Math 2 Subject Test. In college, Jerry often absorbed content on the spot and was able to explain concepts to his peers in more relatable ways, an experience that inspired his passion for education.

With a knack for simplifying standardized tests in unique ways for his students, Jerry aims to make intimidating disciplines, such as math and logic, more human and approachable, using practical analogies and examples to support his explanations. His tactics often get the response, “Wow, that’s so smart!” Jerry hopes to teach lifelong skills and ways of problem-solving to his students, beyond the tricks that help students succeed on specific exams. His favorite quote from Einstein is, “Pure mathematics is, in its way, the poetry of logical ideas.”

Aside from work, Jerry enjoys playing piano, kayaking, chess, and solving puzzles. He is a responsible host of game nights, often snatching the top ranks in joke contests! He also speaks perfect Mandarin.
