7 years experience

John holds degrees from three universities: a B.A. from Harvard University in Government (Political Science), a J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School, and a B.S. with Highest Honors in Computer Science from Georgia Tech. After a career with large law firms, accounting firms, and the federal government, he initially retired in his early 40s but soon found a new passion for tutoring. He discovered how much he loved working with students, and he has been an online tutor exclusively for seven years.

While his resume may make him appear stodgy, John is very flexible and humorous in class, bringing levity without sacrificing rigor. His amicability coupled with his demonstrated ability to improve students’ standardized test scores often results in his working with siblings. After the older sibling enjoys their classes and sees a marked boost in their SAT/ACT score, the parents and younger sibling frequently specifically request John as a tutor and achieve similar outcomes.

John’s students are not limited only to the highest scoring ones. He takes pride in his ability to assist any student willing to do their best. While he has helped many students score 1500+ on the SAT, he has also, for example, helped a student improve their math score from 440 to 590, a 150-point increase, and another from 430 to 620, a 190-point increase.
