Josh R.
About
Josh graduated Magna Cum Laude from Lake Forest College with majors in Mathematics and Computer Science. He also was made a member of Phi Sigma Iota and Phi Beta Kappa. He took the Putnam Examination and scored a 10 where the mode score is 0. He also got a perfect 800 on the Math portion of the GRE. At Lake Forest College, Josh was a teaching assistant for Calculus, Discrete Mathematics, and Linear Algebra.
As a high school student, Josh got a 5 on the AP Calculus BC exam and helped two students that wanted to take AB successfully complete BC Calculus with A’s and 5’s on their own AP exams. He was a National Merit Scholar, an Illinois State Scholar, and a member of the National Honors Society and Spanish National Honors Society.
He started tutoring a lot more in graduate school at Indiana University Bloomington, where he earned an M.A. in Mathematics and an M.S. in Computer Science. Besides being a teaching assistant for undergraduate level Computer Science, he also tutored college students at Indiana University’s Academic Support Center in Finite Math, Discrete Math, Calculus, College Algebra, and Computer Science. He also tutored local high school students in subjects ranging from Algebra and Geometry through AP Calculus and AP Statistics. Since 2007, he has tutored and taught courses in person and online, in many cases developing content for multiple tutoring companies and individual families. He believes every student learns differently, and good tutoring involves being able to adapt the lesson to meet the student’s needs at any given moment. Even if a difficult Calculus problem turns into simplifying an algebraic expression, you now have an Algebra tutoring session to do.
