Maddie is a Stanford graduate and experienced educator with over 15 years of tutoring experience and multiple years of full-time classroom teaching. In high school, Maddie was a National Merit Commended Student, a National Hispanic Recognition Scholar, and a National AP Scholar, scoring a 2320 out of 2400 on the SAT and earning 5s on nine AP exams.

At Stanford, Maddie earned a B.A. in Urban Studies and a minor in Education, was awarded a research grant for independent study on early childhood education, and received the Cardinal Service Notation for extensive volunteer work in tutoring, mentoring, and community-based research. Before entering the classroom professionally, Maddie supported students as a literacy tutor, college advisor, and math tutor. Maddie worked full time in a specialized tutoring center before transitioning to teaching social studies in a 4th, 5th, and 6th grade Montessori classroom while simultaneously offering private tutoring. 

Maddie has a gift for working with neurodivergent and multilingual learners, particularly students with ADHD, dyslexia, or dyscalculia. Lessons are tailored to each student’s needs using a wide variety of formats (including visual, auditory, hands-on, and real-life applications) to make content stick. Known for building strong rapport with students, Maddie helps learners overcome both academic and emotional barriers to success. Whether guiding students through complex math or coaching them through test anxiety, Maddie creates a learning environment that is strategic, calm, and deeply encouraging.

Noteworthy Accomplishments

  • Maddie helped three recent students reach their math goal scores (710–800) in under a month.
  • Maddie helped a student deemed “unteachable” go from failing to almost all As.

Fun Facts

  • Maddie has gone skateboarding with almost a dozen different students.
  • Maddie has two mischievous cats: a Russian Blue named Melon and a tabby named Cleo.
