Russell
About
Russell has been a classical musician, chemist, teacher, and educational leader in his professional life. He earned an English BA at University of Chicago, studied music and chemistry at Indiana University, and completed an MS in chemistry at New York University. He has worked in education in New York and Chicago for over 25 years, including as a science and math teacher, department chair, and Head of Upper School for a number of K-12 independent schools. He is currently teaching at the Latin School, a PK-12 independent school in Chicago.
Russell works to meet students where they are and guide them toward the mastery level to which they aspire. He teaches by asking questions, both factual and conceptual, that pull students along to discover for themselves what they wish and/or need to know. As a test prep tutor, he is deeply experienced in teaching up-to-date tactics and strategies for students to use on a wide range of standardized exams. Whether identifying opportunities for their growth or celebrating their successes, Russell fully enjoys the unique journey that each tutoring client provides.
