Sophie

Sophie is a tutor specializing in math and test preparation, supporting students across both the quantitative and verbal sections of the SAT and ACT. She has worked with students in a wide range of math subjects, including algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and the full calculus sequence. In addition to her math expertise, Sophie has experience helping students strengthen reading comprehension and grammar skills through her work with Reading Partners, where she supported younger students in building confidence and fluency.

Sophie has also served as a teaching assistant for Algebra II and Calculus I, working closely with students to reinforce key concepts, answer questions, and foster a supportive learning environment. Across all of her work, she emphasizes not just arriving at the correct answer, but developing a clear, repeatable approach to problem-solving. She prioritizes building confidence alongside skills, creating sessions that are collaborative, encouraging, and tailored to each student’s needs.

Originally from New York City, Sophie graduated magna cum laude from Binghamton University with a degree in mathematics. As both a student and educator, she understands how challenging these subjects can feel and enjoys helping students develop strategies that work for them.

Outside of tutoring, Sophie enjoys knitting, cooking, weightlifting, and spending time with her pet tortoise.
